Nottinghamshire Heritage & Tourism Network brings heritage and tourism organisations together to grow visitor numbers, strengthen local pride and boost the county’s economy. We help you collaborate, learn and promote Nottinghamshire’s stories so more people discover our rich history.
We’re not a sales platform or a one‑off marketing pitch. We’re a practical support network that builds your confidence and capability, so you can promote your site, improve visitor experiences and reach the audiences who matter most.
As a business support group for Nottinghamshire’s heritage sector, we connect you to available support now, and we’re building a tailored programme of training, tools and shared opportunities for the year ahead.
Mission Statement
The Nottinghamshire Heritage and Tourism Network is an independent, countywide organisation dedicated to supporting and promoting Nottinghamshire’s heritage sites and tourism offers through practical support, training, advocacy, and collaborative marketing. We help museums, historic houses, archives, volunteer‑run sites, and heritage businesses become more resilient, visitor‑ready, and visible to local, regional, and national audiences.
We welcome museums, historic houses, sites and archives, community heritage groups, arts and culture organisations, visitor attractions, tourism businesses, destination partners and those supporting economic growth. If you help people experience Nottinghamshire, its places, stories and culture, there’s a place for you here.
Heritage isn’t one ‘type’ of organisation. From industrial history to food culture, faith, landscapes, sport and storytelling—more voices make a stronger offer. Your unique experience helps shape our programme and enables us to host larger, more inclusive events.
Our programme of workshops, webinars and peer learning is designed for real‑world challenges. Build an ever‑expanding toolkit that helps your organisation adapt, increase engagement and grow revenue:
Meet peers at quarterly get‑togethers, informal socials and project sessions. Strong relationships lead to shared ideas, joint offers, and co‑created events, helping you keep visitors engaged year‑round while lowering marketing costs.
Eligibility: you’re actively involved in Nottinghamshire’s heritage or tourism sectors, you support our mission, and you agree to our code of conduct. Membership is open to organisations, businesses and individual professionals.
Engagement: the network works best when members take part and join the discussions, share opportunities, attend when they can, and help amplify each other’s work. When you apply, you’re saying “yes” to being part of the conversation that strengthens Nottinghamshire’s heritage and tourism sector.
Together we can develop heritage trails, learning programmes, festivals and conservation volunteering projects that build community pride, grow skills and widen participation. By pooling expertise and resources, we increase reach and unlock funding routes that may be harder to access alone.
We champion responsible visitor management, environmental care and local economic benefit. The Network contributes to conversations with partners and decision‑makers so heritage and tourism needs are understood and supported.
We’ve also fed into the current Destination Management Plan commissioned by EMCCA—reflecting long‑standing sector priorities, including practical transport options for staff and visitors.
Join the Nottinghamshire Heritage & Tourism Network to strengthen your offer, grow your audiences and shape what’s next for heritage in the county. Apply today, bring your ideas, and let’s make Nottinghamshire easier to discover and harder to forget.
